Scrublands

Scrublands are areas where vegetation is dominated by shrubs, such as bramble and gorse, though grasses and flowers may also be present, depending on shrub density. Scrubland provides cover and berries for many nesting birds and small mammals, and some shrubs, such as hawthorn, support many insect species. In Wormwood Scrubs, scrubland also provides important cover for Common lizards, which come out into the open to bask in the sun. Keep your eyes peeled because you may miss them!
