Robin (Erithacus rubecula)
Robins are one of Britain’s favourite birds, and are common and widespread. They are small, and adult birds have an orange-red breast and face, white belly and brown back.
Habitat
Robins live in woodlands, parks, gardens or anywhere with some dense shrubby vegetation. In winter they regularly visit garden bird feeders.
Behaviour
Robins are most active at dawn and dusk and are known for their brave nature. They like to forage for food brought to the surface when gardeners dig the soil. Males are highly territorial and will attack other males that stray into their territories.
Feeding
Robins eat earthworms, beetles and spiders, but will also eat a variety of seeds.
Voice
Their call is a sharp tik. Their song is rich, sweet and musical with no two voices at the same time.
