Carrion Crow (Corvus corone)

Carrion Crows are large all-black birds. They are commonly confused with Rooks but have shorter, more robust beaks.

Habitat
Carrion Crows are found anywhere from city centres to mountain tops.

Behaviour
Carrion Crows are usually seen on their own or in pairs, although in winter they form larger groups. They make large, stick nests in tall trees, laying 4-6 brown-speckled blue eggs.

Feeding
Carrion Crows mostly eat dead animals, and sometimes pester birds of prey or even foxes for their kills. They also eat insects, worms, grain and eggs, and sometimes actively hunt to kill small mammals.

Voice
Their call is a loud, harsh, somewhat menacing caw-caw, caw-caw.
